From actress and fashionista to blogger and wife, Shenae Grimes-Beech is exploring life, and her favourite makeup brand is joining he for the ride.
Born and raised in Toronto, Shenae started her acting career on Degrassi: The Next Generation as Darcy Edwards. Some fellow cast members include Cassie Steele (Manny Santos), Lauren Collins (Paige Michalchuk), Shane Kippel (Spinner), Stacey Farber (Ellie Nash) and Aubrey Graham aka Drake (Jimmy Brooks).
Leaving Canada and the cast of Degrassi in 2008, Shenae took on the role of Annie Wilson in the ever-so-popular 90210. “It was such a whirlwind that I don’t think anyone could understand because we were reviving such an iconic show. We bonded for life from that trip that we all shared together,” Shenae says.
Currently focusing on non-scripted projects for her blog with hubby, Josh Beech (www.twohalvesblog.com), Shenae goes from interviewee to interviewer. “I got bored! I wanted to have conversations with people—I’m fascinated by people in general. I find it more challenging to try to get on different people’s wavelengths within the first 20 seconds, rather than answering the same routine questions over and over,” Shenae explains. “I’ve always been interested in being a host—I interned at Fashion Television and was going to pursue that before I got into 90210, so it’s a real passion that I want to pursue.”
With all of these changes, one thing stays constant in Shenae’s life—Annabelle Cosmetics. “As a brand, they’re not only something I have a personal relationship with since my high-school years, but I also feel like I get to be myself through them,”
Shenea says. “I think that their range of colours and products allows women of a wide age group to be who they are—whoever that is. I think that a lot of other brands really carve that out for people and say, ‘This is our girl,’ but Annabelle really encourages women to be who they are, and they can find themselves through their wide range of products. I found myself in them, and I use them day in and day out.”
Not only is Annabelle Cosmetics a Canadian brand (which we LOVE), but it’s also young, fun, edgy and playful, all at the same time! Summer has finally arrived, and it’s time to show off colourful lips and eye shadows. However, it’s important to stay away from too much makeup (caked-on makeup is not a good look).
Luckily, Shenae shared her tips and tricks with us for her summer look. “That Annabelle BB cream is like a lifesaver—it’s not heavy at all, and it gives you a little bit of coverage. It has colour control in it, so again, just helping the cause! It also has a bit of SPF in it, which is perfect for summer. Their CC Colour Control Pressed Powder is amazing! I think it’s necessary with the summer heat because you will always be shiny, and we need to fix that! Their Eye Ink pen is awesome—it won’t melt on your face, and it’ll last all day and stays super black.”
