An Interview With Budding Canadian Country Star Kira Isabella

We caught up with newly-signed-to-Sony-Music, Kira Isabella at Canadian Music Week in Toronto.

It was a huge day for young country singer Kira Isabella. Not only did she perform at the Canadian Radio Music Awards and win her very first award, but she also officially signed her record deal with Sony Music.

At only 18 years old, she has made her presence known in the Canadian music industry, from performing in CMT specials to singing our National Anthem at hockey games. Growing up in Ottawa, she pursued her love of country music and is now a unique addition to the Canadian music scene, proving that she has what it takes.

“You definitely get underestimated a lot, so it’s nice to be able to prove myself sometimes,” she says. “I think it’s awesome because people are even more surprised when you do well. But it’s pretty fun.”

And despite her busy schedule, she is still just like every other teenage girl– she loves hanging out with her friends and admits she is an obsessive bookworm (She has a love for historical fiction!).

She hopes to someday meet her country music idol, Carrie Underwood, and maybe even collaborate with fellow Canadian Justin Bieber.

“We’re both Canadian and I could take him to the country side,” she said. “We would be great.”

Now that she has signed with Sony, she will be working hard on an album and we’re looking forward to seeing more of Kira Isabella!

And on a more serious note, you really need to watch Quarterback.
