Following the passing of his mother Dr. Donda C. West in November 2007, the Kanye West Foundation was launched in her memory to combat the high school drop out epidemic happening across America. The foundation’s initiatives largely revolve around helping the youth of today develop the skills to become stronger creatively, and to feel empowered within. Of course, since the foundation is in Kanye’s name, there will be a strong hip-hop education element as well.
