Movie Review: ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’

Jack Sparrow brings us along for another jaw-dropping, stirring adventure as he is hunted by his most wicked and ruthless enemy and is driven to dance with death, yet again.

Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales perfectly ties together all our favourite aspects of this adventure film series. The fifth film of the Disney series stars Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), Captain Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), Henry Turner (Brenton Thwaites), Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), and a great cameo appearance by Sir Paul McCartney, as they face a new challenge yet again caused by Jack’s past faults.

It all begins with young Jack Sparrow’s first victory against Captain Salazar at the Devil’s Triangle. Years later, it seems like Jack’s luck has run out as the undead Captain Salazar and his ghostly sailors escape their otherworldly prison to set sail with a vengeance.

To escape his ghostly pursuers, Jack must set out on a new adventure to find the one thing that might be able to break all myths of the sea. It’s a dangerous journey and he must forge an alliance with a few unlikely and stubborn characters if he wants to survive.

After a six year break from the previous film in the series, Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales brings back the old drunken, hilarious pirate we all love. It’s a perfect blend of comedy, action, and adventure, and fans will be happy to see some of their long-time favourite characters back to their old pirate shenanigans, as well as the introduction of new talented, smart and lovable characters. The scenes in this film are visually stimulating and will leave you on the edge of your seat with your jaw dropped. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is well worth the wait because it is jam-packed with action and just enough thrill to leave you wanting more. It’s incredible what type of trouble Jack Sparrow and his crew can get into.

Here’s The Rundown

Romance: Although the film is very action-packed, there’s still a little room for romance. The characters newest to the series, Carina Smyth and Henry Turner, can’t keep their eyes off of each other as they bond over their tragic pasts.

Family: Blood or not, the bond between family is sacred. The entire adventure is brought together on the foundation of family, and it’s the help of their pirate family and sticking together that will get them through it.

Teamwork: In this film we get to see how two rivals, Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Hector Barbossa, actually work together to become a powerful duo. The unlikely pair manages to put aside their hate for one another to join forces and defeat the greater evil.
