Panic! At The Disco

Panic At The Disco

Panic! At The Disco! Their name may be confused for a headline in a 1970s newspaper, but rest assured, there is definitely nothing to panic about with these boys. Ryan Ross, 19, Spencer Smith, 18, Brendon Urie, 18, and Brent Wilson, 18, are just regular guys from Las Vegas with amazing musical talent and a gift with words. Panic’s big break came when Ryan posted a demo on Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz’s LiveJournal. Ryan didn’t think anything would come of it. “I was just like, ‘Well, I’ll post it on here and maybe he’ll listen to it.’ It wasn’t like a, ‘Okay, this is our chance….’”

Luckily, Pete gave the demo a listen and loved it. The boys were signed to Pete’s record label, Decaydance Records. They released their debut album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, in September 2005. For anyone who hopes to one day make it big in the business, they advise going the electronic route: “It’s so easy just to demo your songs however you can. You could do it off your laptop—just put a microphone on it. Then put them on a website like PureVolume or MySpace. Anybody in the world can hear them.”
