Latest Teen Sensation: Jackson Guthy

This California native was born to perform on the big stage. At the young age of four, Jackson Guthy began to play the piano. Then, at six, he stated to sing and, when he was nine, he began to write his own music.

When Jackson was 15, he got his first break when he caught the eyes and ears of Ellen DeGeneres in 2011. “Ellen heard some of my music and I was invited onto the show. She was a pleasure to work with and really, really cool. It was great!” he says.

Jackson performed his first single “Loving” for Ellen two years ago. When he returned to the show earlier this year, audiences got to hear both of his latest singles “Roll” and “Everything You Do.”

Now 17, Jackson Guthy has already shared the stage with super-boy bands One Direction and Big Time Rush. And, more recently, Jackson embarked on Cher Lloyd’s I Wish Tour with Fifth Harmony this summer. “I love the energy! And seeing and feeling how the crowd reacts—that’s why I love to perform,” he says, as he reflects on his latest show in Toronto.

Jackson would describe his sound as a throwback with a twist. “If you listen to Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars—a lot of their music has an old-school vibe. I’m definitely going that way by adding more instruments into my songs. Plus, I’m incorporating  EDM to my sound,” he says.

What’s next for his skateboarding, surfing and basketball-loving teen sensation?  “I have new singles coming out that I am very excited about.”

So, keep your eye out for Jackson’s latest EP “Launch” which will be released later this year.
