Street Dogs, From Stomping Out Fires To Stomping Out Hunger

Prior to forming STREET DOGS in 2002, Mike McColgan spent many years saving people’s lives as a Boston area firefighter. After realizing that music was his true calling, McColgan put down the fire hose and grabbed a microphone. Four albums later, these street punks have solidified a sound, but McColgan’s passion for helping others hasn’t died; he continues to encourage others to give back whenever they can. “I just thought that Oxfam, Amnesty International, Unicef and The Red Cross are good things to advocate for or participate in, at some level, and just give as much as you can, when you can. It’s the right thing,” says McColgan. “One of the basic principles in human rights should be to help others if you’re capable of helping others.”
