A Chat With Canadian Indie Rockers The Outspoken

Faze spoke to emerging Canadian indie band The Outspoken (Alex, Anthony, Justin, and Fab), four guys with a passion for music and the drive to succeed.

The Outspoken Band

How would you explain your sound?

Alex: It’s a new-age of pop-punk but we’ve got our own spin to it. Our influences are Blink 182, Green Day, NOFX, Bad Religion…

What inspires you to make music?

Anthony: Growing up, experiencing different people and situations and just learning from it. Real life.
Fab: I normally write and play music when I’m stressed out; it’s the best way into your own little world.

You guys are from a small town. What’s the music scene like there?

Alex: It just isn’t there, so we’ve had to get used to traveling, mostly to Toronto. It’s well worth the drive.
Fab: Put it this way, we’re from a town where you’ve got like, 100 acres of corn field in your backyard—we’ve even seen llamas! We’re pretty much the only band in Nobleton.

What’s your favourite thing about being in a band?

Justin: Probably the chicks! [laughs] Well, not just that. I love playing with these guys.
Anthony: Just working together to make it all happen, perfecting our craft and making it our own.
