How can you tell when you’re ready to launch a music career?
For Christine Evans, as she saw it, it was pretty much the only thing she ever wanted to do, and it was only a matter of time before she actually started doing it. So she told her parents she was ready. “It was mostly like my dad and I would talk. And both of my parents are sensitive and supportive in the way that I love music. And we would always talk about it. So we would always throw around the idea of recording a song. So then my dad came up to me and said, ‘You know what? If you want to, I think we should take the next step and find a producer to record the song.’ And that’s what we did, and that’s how it came along.”
Even though she makes it sound easy, a mature, deep voice and solid lyrics help back up the rise of a fresh voice in the past year, and the release of her debut, Take me Home. In spite of a new album, she still has to make time for school. “A big challenge is balancing school and my career,” Christine says. “Because education is really important for my parents and me, both believe the same thing. So I have to find a balance and make sure I can do my work on the way and try not to miss too much school.”
