Canada’s Danko Jones Is Big In Europe

Trio Danko Jones may be one of Canada’s hardest rocking bands, but somehow Europe has become the place where Danko Jones is appreciated the most. “In North America we have this culture of microwave success with Canadian Idol and American Idol. It’s instant,” says bassist John Calabrese. “People just want it now and then that’s it. People forget about it and move onto the next thing.”

Having released their latest album Never Too Loud in the spring of 2008, Calabrese along with band mates Danko Jones and Dan Cornelius aren’t bothered that they’re seemingly more appreciated overseas and realize that this is the path they’re meant to be on. “We just get to tour and that’s what we do and that’s what doing this is all about, playing in front of people all over the place,” says Calabrese, and adds, “Right now this is not a hobby or a pastime, this is what we do, this is who I am, this is what we are.”
