Creating a career you love is something that so many of us want to be able to do. However, it’s one of those things that just seems so big and scary and overwhelming from time to time. When you’re a dreamer and you know what you want to achieve, sometimes you hold yourself back from actually getting started due to the fear of failure. However, we needn’t do that. Most of the time, just getting started is all we need to be able to do. This can be exactly the same when you’re looking to progress in your career too.
Right now, things are a little different. But that’s just the world that we’re all living in. And so, it’s important to be able to think about how you can still advance your career when working remotely or not working at all. These ideas should help you.
Set Goals
To start with, one of the best things that you can do for yourself here, is to make sure that you’re setting goals. If you are not sure what you need to do to get to where you want to be, or even where you want to be, setting goals for your life can really help. Then, you can break them down to work out what steps to take first.
Get A Mentor
You could also look to get a mentor. Maybe you’re not sure what you need to do to progress or get to where you want to be. However, working with something in your field that’s already where you are can help you to get there.
Learn New Skills
It could be that what you actually want to be able to do is learn some new skills. It’s often the case that you are feeling a bit stuck where you are and you want to be able to grow and get to the next level with what you’re doing? When that’s the case, you might want to start thinking about different skills relevant to your work that you can pick up. Whether that’s learning how to transfer photos from mac to iphone now that you’re working from home. Or choosing to learn photoshop to help you move forward in your role.
Go Back To School
Sometimes, what can be perfect for you right now is the idea of going back to school. If you are on a career break or you know you can’t progress without the right qualifications, this could really be something that helps you to get there.
Keep Going
But finally, you’re then going to want to make sure that you just keep doing what you’re doing. Sometimes, these things just don’t advance quickly – and that’s okay. You’re not always going to be able to make this happen overnight. It may take you the whole year of putting the work in, exactly the way that you are now, before you start to see results. But that’s okay, because your career should really be the long game. And it can take years to get to where you want to be, but it will be worth it!
