Five Ways To Make Crop Tops Totally Appropriate For School

That’s right, I said school! They’re deemed as inappropriate and too revealing–how many stories have we heard about girls being sent home from school because of their “inappropriate outfit”?  The truth is, you don’t have to bare it all to rock this piece! Crop tops can totally be professional and appropriate. It all depends on how you style them. If you’re not ready to tuck your crop tops away for the school season, DON’T WORRY! Here are some ways you can make them appropriate for school.

1. Over a Dress

A loose-fitting crop top would be ideal for this outfit. The good thing is that you can mix and match your crop tops with different dresses and it will look like you’re wearing a totally new outfit each time!

2. With Overalls

Overalls are totally coming back in style and they look great with a simple t-shirt crop. To style this look for school, go with high-rise overalls, like these ones, so that no midriff is showing.

3. With High-Rise Pants

Pants with a high waist are a very popular trend right now, and guess what? They also look great with crop tops! To avoid showing your stomach, make sure your crop top is at a decent length. It should overlap with the waistline of the pants you’re wearing.

4. With a Midi

For the gals like me who love to dress up, pairing a fancy crop top with a midiskirt makes for a totally appropriate and stylish school outfit.

5. Layer it up

Layering a crop top guarantees that zero midriff will be showing. The key to layering a crop is making sure that it doesn’t make the top underneath look bunched up and unflattering. If you’re going to layer your crop top with a blouse, make sure that the crop is nice and flowy so that it compliments the blouse well.

  1. I can’t believe I never thought of the dress one. I’m definitely doing that in the future. Thank you so much!

  2. The Questionare

What about crop top sweaters? They’re super hard to layer up without sweating to death and not all of us are skinny enough to look good in high-rise pants.

    1. Then lose weight. If crop top sweaters are such a problem, don’t wear them.
