Movie Review: Ender’s Game

This is not a game.

Ender's Game

The last time the alien’s arrived, they didn’t bring peace. They brought near-total destruction. The only way humans weren’t completely wiped out by the colonizing enemy was because of some self-sacrificing heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley).

Now, Earth is preparing for the inevitable second attack. Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military seek out the brightest minds and gamers of a young generation in order to train the future line of defense. And, hopefully, find their next legendary Commander.

Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield) isn’t your typical soldier, but he is brilliant. At Battle School, he masters every challenge they can throw at him, until Graff believes he is the next great hope. So, he gets shipped off to Command School, far above the world he knows–parents, siblings and real gravity.

At Command School, he meets both enemies and friends–including love interest Petra Arkanian (Hailee Steinfeld)–who will shape what kind of leader he will become.

But, despite all the training, will Ender be ready when the epic battle arrives?

Ender's Game

Here’s the run down:

Drama: Save the world. No pressure. Right… Drama ensues as Ender tries to deal with training away from his family and under the intense scrutiny of those in charge, who believe he is the chosen one.

Romance: Petra and Ender seem to light up the video screen–and each other’s lives–with some PG sparks.

Action: Think video games aren’t important? Well, in this world, the expert gamers are the ones who can save humanity from alien invasion. So, look out for some intense gaming action.
