Exciting things happening at OPI this year–especially for Bieber fans!
Nicole by OPI teamed up with pop-icon and heart-throb Justin Bieber to create 14 new shades of polish in the One Less Lonley Girl Collection.
With names like One Less Lonely Glitter and One Time Lime, the polish colours aren’t exactly what Bieber would sport himself, but Suzi Weis-Fischmann, VP and Artisitc Director of OPI, says, “For Justin, it was very much about who his fans are. He really wanted the colours to represent [them].”
Justin’s goal was to give his fans a fun way to express themselves through colours inspired by the songs they love. “Nail polish is something they can put on; they can go to school. They can be a little bit edgy, funky. And no teacher is going to tell them to take it off. So I think that’s why he liked the category,” says Suzi.
But there was more behind this partnership than just style. OPI is donating some of the proceeds of the sales to Pencils of Promise–a school-building organization that Bieber has been a strong supporter of in the past.
Knowing that Bieber was looking for ways to give back, Suzi says that the partnership with OPI just made sense. “OPI’s all about giving. That’s part of OPI’s culture.”
Also teaming up with OPI is another pop-icon, Katy Perry. The Katy Perry Collection by OPI includes 4 shades that are inspired by her latest album, Teenage Dream, as well as her irresistible style.
“For Katie, it was maybe a little bit more personal,” says Suzi, of their creation process. “She wanted the colours to represent who she is.”
And what says Katy Perry better than a glam, glitter and a little girly-sparkle?
“She loves nails. And not only her, but her fiancee [now husband], Russell Brand’s favourite colour is Lincoln Park After Dark.”
