With the release of a new song and video on his YouTube channel called “Wilderness” Cody Simpson using his amazing voice and guitar skills to bring awareness to the recent oil spills in Santa Barbara, CA. He has partnered with Surfrider to collect donations to help clean up the ocean. Here is what Cody wrote on the donation website:
Hello Everyone, it’s Cody Simpson here.
I was inspired to write a song to raise environmental awareness to the people and all my fans.
It’s one of the interludes on my first independent album Free coming out in July. Our initial plan for the video was to shoot a lot of nature scenes up the coast towards Big Sur but after we heard the news about the oil spill off the coast of Santa Barbara we decided it that the only right thing to do was to use the song & video to raise money in favor of the cleanup efforts.
