I Mustache You A Question: Do You Know What Movember Is About?

It’d mid-November and you may be wondering why you’ve seen so many guys with mustaches lately – especially in the downtown core. It’s Movember! It’s that wonderful time of the year where guys grow their mustaches out for 30 days to raise awareness about men’s health. So you may ask yourself, how does having facial hair raise awareness? Easily, actually – you noticed the men with mustaches on the street so it’s working! It’s a great way to start a conversation and the guys who are participating are raising money while growing out their stache.

If you’re anything like me, I somewhat dread Movember for a very selfish reason – I just don’t like the way it looks on my male friends. But ladies, we have to stand behind our boyfriends, dads, cousins, friends and classmates because they’re standing up to make a difference, which is very commendable (plus, I’m betting that if they don’t grow a mustache for the other 335 days of the year, they probably don’t love seeing their face with facial hair either. It’s probably tougher on them than it is for us).

While we’re on this topic, though, what’s wrong with men’s health lately? Simply put, men are dying too young. On average, across the world, men die six years younger than women. Plus, mental health affects more men than women: 75% of all suicides are by men. Men also have to deal with prostate and testicular cancer, which is the second most common cancer in men worldwide.

Thinking positively, some men can pull of a mustache wonderfully. So to help you get through the rest of Movember, imagine your men looking as suave as these celebs who can totally rock the stache any day.
