2016 Oscars Best Dressed

#OscarsSoWhite was the dominant theme for this year’s award show as people stood up against the lack of diversity in the nomination roster. Chris Rock was a fantastic host shedding light on the issue with perfect comedic timing and such crisp sarcasm that even Chandler Bing would take notes. Leonardo DiCaprio FINALLY took home a well-deserved Oscar for Revenent. How could they not give him an Oscar after he went through hell filming the movie and sticking it out like a champ?! But let’s talk about the red carpet outfits! I have watched virtually every award show in existence and this year’s Oscars showcased the best designer outfits I have seen since Bjork’s swan dress (joking about the swan dress).

Faze counts down our top 10 Oscar red carpet outfits.

10. Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse Ronan, oscars, dress, red carpet

Saoirse Ronan shone in this Calvin Klein number. The plunging neckline and light jewelry made just the right statement. Her dark eye make up and messy waves brought the whole look together.

9.  Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie, oscars, gold

Margot couldn’t have chosen a more complimentary color. This gold Tom Ford dress with her blonde hair made her glow! Not only is the dress stunning, she resembles the Oscar statue itself!

8. Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga, Oscars, dress

Leave it to Gaga to make a unique statement on the red carpet. I was blown away by this gorgeous Brandon Maxwell outfit. It almost seems like a work of art. Having pants is always a practical option and a huge step up from the infamous meat dress.

7. Rooney Mara

Rooney Mara, oscars, dresses

The detail in this Givenchy number is insane. And the fact that Rooney went with an up-do instead of letting her hair down, really showed off her dress and delicate facial structure. P.S. LOVE the shoes!

6. Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley

Tom Hardy, Charlotte Riley, Oscars, dresses, gowns, designer

These two basically exude the perfect couple goals. Move over Brangelina! Tom Hardy’s suit and her dress beautifully complement each other.

5. Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner, oscars, red carpet

Who isn’t a sucker for the old Hollywood look? This one brings together the classic Hollywood era and a modern flair perfectly. I love everything about this Versace dress and Jennifer looks fantastic! You can never go wrong with a black dress.

4. Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen, Oscars, John Legend

Chrissy’s pregnancy glow is even brighter in this Marchesa gown. The fit of this dress and the color suits her incredibly! I wouldn’t be surprised if John is gleaming with pride yelling ‘hot mama’ on the side.

3. Rachel McAdams

Rachel McAdams, Oscars, Red Carpe

The longer the train, the better the look, and this gown screams, “I own this red carpet”. I’m sure everyone couldn’t help but make way for Rachel as she walked down the red carpet.

2. Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra, Oscars, red carpet

Sometimes wearing a white, lace gown can give off the unwanted bridal look on a red carpet, but this Zuhair Murad gown did just the opposite! This gown fit Priyanka exceptionally well and framed her fit figure. And the sheerness of the gown added that unique touch to the whole look.

3. Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron, red carpet, oscars

This Dior gown, jewelry, hair, and make up is my new favourite red carpet look of all time. Throwing on a long Harry Winston Diamond necklace on a plunging neckline is the perfect way to balance sexiness and elegance. And of course red is the one colour that anyone can stand out in and turn heads.
