Celebrities Party With Perez Hilton To Support Music In Schools

There may have been a red carpet, celebrities, performances, drinks and food, but Perez Hilton’s “One Night in Toronto” was not your regular MuchMusic Video Awards after party.

Perez Hilton MusiCounts Event:

Instead, it was a sold out event that donated 100% of its ticket sales to Canadian music education charity MusiCounts, ensuring that children in Canada can have access to a music program through their school.

Held at Club XS on June 17, the event raised over $10,000 for the MusiCounts Band Aid Grants, which will fully fund one school music program.

“It’s amazing; I couldn’t think of a more appropriate charity to donate to that gives young people the opportunity to learn and be a part of the music experience,” says Spee Chalkiotis of Neverest. His fellow band members couldn’t agree more.

The night saw many celebrity appearances such as Katy Perry, Cody Simpson, Ed Sheeran, Conor Maynard, Nelly Furtado, Kreesha Turner, Danny Fernandes and Tyler Mederios to name a few.

It wasn’t just music artists who came out to support the cause, but special guests Darren Criss and Chord Overstreet from Glee, 90210’s Shenae Grimes and one pretty little liar Lucy Hale joined the party as well.

The MusiCounts Band Aid Grants impacts young Canadians and supports diverse music programs throughout the country and is a special cause to many of the Canadian artists who made an appearance like Victoria Duffield.

“Music is such a big part of our lives and it does so much—it heals, it soothes, it’s fun and everyone can be influenced by it,” says the singer and dancer. “It was a big part of my school life, so I realize how important it is.”

Perez was more than happy to host the night (while sporting a giant afro), with this being his third massively successful “One Night in Toronto” event.

Also in attendance were Carly Rae Jepsen who had the audience join her in singing “Call Me Maybe” and Ed Sheeran who sang a serenading acoustic version of “Give Me Love” on the stage. Other great performances from My Name Is Kay, Anjulie and Dragonette kept guests entertained all night long.

Everyone knows Perez Hilton throws the ultimate party; this time he had a little help from his friends Strut Entertainment and The BMF Media Group. There’s no denying that this was one night that will have a lasting impact on not only the guests who attended, but the kids who will benefit from MusiCount’s Band Aid program in the future.

(Truth be told, we had a fabulous full interview with host Perez Hilton, but the venue was so loud the recording was virtually undecipherable, lesson learned, always bring your professional mic to the big interviews!)
