Chris Hemsworth Hammers Out A Winner: THOR

“Courage is immortal.”

Thor Movie

So, we’re big fans of comic-books-turned-action-films and were therefore super-excited to see this one. And trust us, it does not disappoint.

With an all-star cast, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) tells the tale of a god-type character from a different realm and his exile to earth. On the day that he is to be crowned king, he arrogantly disobeys his father, Odin (Anthony Hopkins), and is thus stripped of his powers, his hammer and banished to Earth.

Understandably, he sticks out a bit in our world, but manages to meet scientist Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who tries to help him find his way back home. Though the pull to be with her is strong, he must return to stop his brother, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), from stealing his throne and bringing ruin to their world.

Thor Movie

Here’s the run down:

Action: Definitely. If you like other super-hero films like those in the Spider-Man or X-Men series, you’ll love this one.

Romance: Of course! It would be difficult to show a shirtless Chris Hemsworth (older brother of The Last Song‘s Liam Hemsworth) and NOT have someone fall in love with him.

Humour: You bet. Thor’s transition from his planet Asgard to Earth, where the culture is a little less, well, Viking-ish, provides some good laughs. Also, watch out for Kat Denning’s character, Darcy, with her priceless reactions to the epic moments.

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES:

1. Commentary with the director, Kenneth Branagh.
2. Deleted scenes.
3. A sneak peek at the cast involved with The Avengers, which will be directed by Joss Whedon and is due out in 2012. Super-hyped about this star-studded film, which will bring together all your favourite Marvel Comics characters like The Hulk, Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man and, of course, Thor. It’s like super-hero overload!

Thor is now available to own on DVD and Blu-ray. Check it out!
