Gaming With A Beast: The ASUS ROG G752VS

Welcome to the Republic Of Gamers

ASUS ROG G752VS review

Prepare to wield unbelievable power and speed at your gaming fingertips. If you’re like me and want to take your gaming experience to the highest level, this laptop is literally designed for you. With awesome performance specs this notebook will help boost your gaming abilities with power and speed and also make you look bad-ass while doing it.

Review: ASUS ROG G752VS Gaming Laptop

The Breakdown

Weight/Mobility:
Be forewarned, this laptop is, in my personal opinion, quite heavy and bulky. Especially for a smaller gaming girl like myself (yes, I know I should spend more time at the gym). It’s easy enough to transport around the house or to visit friends but not for regular or long journeys. That being said there is no sense that ASUS is compromising in any way with this laptop. Compared to the lighter and sleeker designs of other gaming laptops on the market, the ROG G752VS gives you way more power and quality hardware at a relatively affordable price. If you need more mobility or constant on-the-go movement I would recommend syncing a tablet to this notebook. Remember, this beast packs the power of a desktop and that needs to be respected.

Design:
Acknowledging the pure coolness of the primal and alien design of this laptop, it’s quite a big change compared to previous ASUS laptop models which opted for a more sleek black design. You can definitely tell ASUS is moving in a different direction with its gaming notebooks. The design accents on the computer were a win for sure, and are probably my favourite part about the look of this laptop. Coupled with the futuristic fan on the back that looks like it was taken right off of a Romulan spacecraft from Star Trek, this computer makes you feel like you are gaming with technology from an advanced civilization.

Performance:
This is definitely the main focus when it comes to a gaming computer. Performance and power are non-negotiable when looking at a powerhouse laptop, and the Asus ROG G752VS packs a mean punch. Offering up a 512GB solid state drive (SSD) and a 1TB hard drive (HDD) this computer offers a ton of storage for everyday usage like music, documents, movies, and almost instant startup for your more used apps and games. With an INTEL i7-7820HK 2.9 GHz quad core processor capable of overclocking to 3.9 GHz when paired with the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1070 graphic card, this monster can run the hottest and newest games on the highest settings and pump out fps rates like they’re going out of style. Visual tear and lag is pretty much non-existent, and even better, thanks to the dust release thermal tunnel fans and cooling modules which manage temperature, overheating, and protection of the internal components, this beast purrs like a kitten and stays cool under pressure so that you can continue to dominate your opponents, human or otherwise. I would highly recommend taking a look at the specs of this laptop and its sister Republic of Gamers series to see which series speaks to you (ASUS ROG laptop collection). You can find other recommendations over at Fierce PC Laptops too.

Overall though, with a list price at CAD$3,299 (USD$2,499) for the G752VS-XS74K version we tested and reasonable deals for comfortably under CAD$3000 popping up out there, this gaming notebook is a high-value steal worth bragging about to your friends while they’re still stuck in loading screens, and a great way to become the centre of gaming envy.

Verdict

This is by far the best gaming notebook I’ve ever used. It’s as powerful as a pimped-out desktop with the convenience of mobility, it has amazing performance stats, great cooling, almost silent fans, ample storage, and all at a respectable price. Now that I’ve been spoiled I can’t go back to any other laptop and had to buy my own. I can’t wait to officially join the Republic of Gamers, how about you?

Another recommendation from our reviewer Sabrina:

So you’ve got yourself a crème de la crème gaming notebook, but make sure your internet can keep up with the demand of the high graphics, frame rates and processing that this monster demands/delivers. Check out the AC3100 Extreme WiFi Router also from ASUS. It’s a great choice in terms of increasing your gaming experience with uninterrupted and lag free action and has great synergy with the ASUS ROG G752. We tested it out in a few scenarios (gaming and extra high bandwidth media streaming) and in all cases there was noticeable improvements from our existing router setup.
