This Canadian Pop-Singer Is Just Being Veronica

In the years after working closely with Faze, in both our in-magazine style shoot and on stage at a FazeLive concert in Toronto, life has been very busy for talented Canadian pop star, Veronica.

And life has been treating her pretty well. Ever since her hit single “Incompatible” was released in 2012, she’s made some huge leaps in her career. She wrapped shooting a music video for her next single “Walking on a Clouds” in 2013, where she got to cross one thing off her bucket list: meeting Kardinal Offishall. “He’s the sweetest guy and he was such a pro with the camera, and he fit right into the video.”

Being on set for 18 hours a day is no piece of cake, but Veronica has her own method of coping with stress. “I keep to myself a bit. Once I start getting distracted, that’s when I lose focus,” she says. “Normally, it’s just me listening to music. My makeup and my hair has to constantly be ready. I just go with the flow.”

A new album is in the works for this Canadian sweetheart, one that represents her growth as a musician and as an individual. “It’s progress; it’s coming along. I’ve been writing a lot of my own music, been in the studio with some very dance-y music, also very laid back, kind of indie-rock stuff,” she says. “I’m really excited for what the album is going to look like. It’s going to be a lot of different sounds.”

Veronica offers one piece of advice for aspiring musicians. “Keep doing what you’re doing. Share your stuff—Twitter, Instagram; make yourself visible to the public,” she says. “That’s how you get fans. That’s how careers happen.”
