The Making of a Warrior
Sheila grew up in a town so small the road was named after her family. From an early age, she stood out. “I was considered a troublemaker,” Sheila says with a knowing smile. “I wanted what I wanted, when I wanted it, and I wanted full control.”
What some saw as defiance, Sheila recognizes as the entrepreneurial fire that fuels her today. Raised by a hardworking Taiwanese mother and a military father, her childhood was shaped by strict expectations and a lack of emotional connection.
A turning point came when her strong-willed nature led her to live with her father in Florida. At first, it felt devastating. Now, she sees it as the moment that opened doors she never imagined. “If I hadn’t been sent to Florida, I would have been stuck in that small town,” Sheila reflects.
Breaking Through Barriers
Sheila’s determination never faded. She became the first in her family to graduate from college at the age of 19. By the age of 22, she had bought her first house. Yet, her drive came at a cost. Operating in “very masculine energy,” she pushed herself relentlessly. For two decades, she coped with heavy drinking.
“I spent about 20 years as a heavy drinker because I was in survival mode,” Sheila admits. “My kids opened my eyes. They helped me see I could flip that energy in a great way.” When she found out she was expecting, she stopped immediately and found inspiration to become better for her children.
Finding Her Tribe
The pandemic offered an unexpected gift. Sheila paused, reflected, and redirected her life. She battled COVID twice, faced long COVID, and managed an autoimmune disease. Still, she refused to give up. “I willed that out of my body. I don’t have time for this,” she says with determination.
