Move over, Jessica and Ashlee: there’s a new sister act in town! Except this time around, they come as a package. American siblings Aly Michalka and Amanda Joy Michalka have teamed up to make beautiful music together. If you haven’t already heard Aly & AJ’s infectious pop single “Rush” on MTV’s Total Request Live and Official Spins, keep your eyes and ears open for the duo. They already have featured singles in the films Herbie Fully Loaded and Ice Princess, and their debut album, Into The Rush, displays just how talented these young girls are. “Our music is like rock/pop, real and from our hearts,” says AJ. “We pour our hearts out. It’s full of life.”
Not only are they conquering the music business, but they are also proving themselves as established actresses. Aly has a co-starring role as Keely Teslow in the Disney Channel series, Phil Of The Future, and movie Bandslam. AJ has guest-starred on the hit shows Six Feet Under and Birds Of Prey. The girls have also filmed a pilot for a new show, Haversham Hall, in which they will star together.
Despite occasional arguments about clothes and other typical sister issues, the two enjoy all the time they spend working and playing together. “We have a special connection,” says Aly. “It’s more than a best friend. We have fun and we’re there to support each other.”
The band: Pop sister act, Aly & AJ.
Right now: Aly & AJ are touring around the U.S.
Coming up: The girls have just finished recording their Christmas CD. Keep an eye out for it.
