3 Things You Have To Do When You Go To Los Angeles

We wish we could be California girls forever…

After a long flight, you finally made it. You’re in Los Angeles, California and you can’t get the Miley Cyrus song out of your head: “I hopped off the plane at L.A.X. with a dream and my cardigan. Welcome to the land of fame, excess, whoa! am I gonna fit in?” Trust me, I know the feeling. A couple of us Faze girls recently took the 6-hour flight to LA. A long trip to work but so worth the commute.

Of course, we were there for “business“, our cover shoot with Zendaya (Faze Magazine’s Issue #55 cover girl!), but we made sure to set time aside to see what LA had to offer. Here are our top three fave places we visited while in the city of angels.

1. The Grove Mall

Los Angeles Grove Mall

An outdoor mall in LA? Yes, please!

But let me just say, from the get-go, that this was not an ordinary mall.  The mall features an eight-story parking garage and if you make the trip to the top, you can see the Hollywood sign! And how many malls can you list that offer a streetcar tour that will take you from one side of the mall to the other? The mall boasts of great stores like Forever 21, Zara and Michael Kors (to name a few), but it’s also a great place to grab a bite to eat.

You can eat at a chain restaurant like the Cheesecake Factory, but we suggest visiting the Farmer’s Market. We indulged in Brazilian BBQ and it was delicious!

2. The Walk of Fame

Yes, I’m talking about celeb’s names printed into the ground—it’s a big deal!

We took the metro to Hollywood (we’re not scared of public transit as Torontonians) and enjoyed the touristy side of LA. Be sure to bring your camera while visiting the Chinese Theatre and snap #instagood pics next to your favourite stars on the ground.

Love Jimmy Fallon? Plan ahead and get tickets to be a part of the audience for one of his shows.

If you’re the kind of person who loves to buy souvenirs that say “someone in LA loves me” or “California girls are undeniable,” then Hollywood boulevard will be one of your much-loved destinations in LA.

3. Beach Time

California is known for its great beaches, so it would be a shame if you travelled all the way there and didn’t get to enjoy the sand in between your toes, the smell of fresh ocean air.

Even though it was February (i.e. still winter for them) we took the drive to Venice Beach.  The water was a bit cold, but the weather was amazing (25 degrees!). We grabbed some lunch from a beachside restaurant and enjoyed it near the shoreline.

Food + beach + amazing weather = great memories.
