Will A Game Console Ever Compete With A Gaming PC?

Going for a gaming console or a gaming PC is one of the most debated questions in the gaming world. Well, the debate is usually anchored on cutting-edge games that need high processing power as they come with support for higher display resolutions as the level of detail and graphics quality in the in-game environments is usually top-notch.

However, for less demanding games such as Canadian casino games and free-to-play online games, you don’t need to worry too much about the device you are using. Provided you can connect to the internet via an HTML5 browser, and you are good to go. Heck, even a simple smartphone will be good enough!

Arguments for Console Gaming

1. Hardware Updates

Every gamer is aware of the importance of hardware updates. We can, however, admit that the wait for such updates may get to our nerves considering the amount of time they take.

If you are a gaming console owner, you do not need to keep updating your hardware like PC owners. There is, however, a negative aspect to this. An old console may not support a new game, so you risk missing out on it. If this happens, you may end up needing to buy a new console to be able to enjoy a new game. This ends up being quite expensive in the long run.

Hardware has been a major differing point for console and PC gaming lovers. It is the consensus that PCs have superior hardware compared to consoles. You will, however, notice that new console games are becoming more like gaming PCs’ when you look at the hardware they use. The Xbox Series X from Microsoft and Sony’s latest Play Station 5, for instance, come with powerful hardware that can comfortably match that of a gaming PC. This acts as our first affirming proof that gaming consoles can indeed compete with a PC.

2. Ease of Setup

Gaming PCs have to go through a setup process which may be complicated for some people. Of course, this setup isn’t a preserve of the tech-savvy guys. A simple web search can guide you through setting up your PC appropriately. The modern era, though, is meant to produce more straightforward solutions to challenging tasks. This gives birth to the question of whether the setup is really worth it, having been given a simpler solution in gaming consoles. Whatever the case, this here is mostly a matter of preference because, for some gamers, the setting up is part of the beauty of the experience.

3. Exclusivity of Games

There are some specific games that you cannot access on the PC as they are only available for particular consoles. Some of the most fantastic titles you’ll miss out on if you are not a console owner include the likes of Uncharted 4, Halo: Master Chief Collection, God of War and Marvel’s Spiderman.

Arguments for PC Gaming

1. Versatility

A gaming PC allows you to do more, unlike a console that may place restrictions on your functionality. A PC will enable you to run your business, conduct work meetings, editing and programming among other things. Gaming PCs also have more variety when it comes to their game choices as compared to consoles. It remains to be seen whether future consoles will diversify their roles to inculcate features traditionally not gaming-related.

2. PC Visuals far Outweigh a Gaming Console’s

The most vital aspect of gaming, which cannot be understated, is enjoying the game. What better way to enjoy the game than with good graphics? The option to play the game on multiple screens is also quite exciting. The critical part of a gamer’s experience with a PC is that YOU are in control. The graphics’ sharpness is in your hands. A lot of the functionalities lie with the gamer. This is why the popularity of PC gaming continues to stand the test of time.

3. Hardware Freedom

Gaming PCs have more freedom when you consider the hardware they are compatible with than, say, the Xbox Series X or the Play Station 5. For instance, PCs allow you to choose from many different controllers. The mice used by PC gamers are compatible with many games and are just as effective, if not more effective than the gaming pads used by console gamers.

Pricing is a Grey Area for Both

Generally, PCs are more expensive on a one-off buy. It is also quite costly to build your gaming PC to the level you deem appropriate for your gaming experience. There is, however, a catch in all this. A PC build is considered a long-term investment. On the other hand, buying a console is regarded as a shorter-term plan. Albeit its cheaper price, a console will eventually be replaced way sooner than a gaming PC. It is also worth noting that PC games cost less than console ones.

Consoles are Getting Better

Thanks to modern technology, the gap between the gaming PC and the game console has slowly been bridged. There is the hope of a console competing with a PC in the future, but for now, there are still glaring reasons why it won’t be easy to do away with the PC as the superior mode of gaming.
