Instead, try making your own energy boosting drink that looks good, tastes good, and is also good for you! By making your own smoothies you are saving money, properly preparing your body for the day and your body will thank you later for all of the delicious nutrition you’ve feeding it. Here are three smoothies with unique ingredients that are essential for energy boosting. All you need to do is throw all the ingredients into a blender and enjoy.

1. Raspberry Smoothie

Ingredients:
6 oz. Greek yogurt
1 cup raspberries
½ cup non-fat milk
½ cup ice cubes

The Greek yogurt contains prebiotics, which help with the absorption of vitamins and nutrients. The raspberries provide a big fibre boost helping your body get rid of the nasty wastes that contribute to fatigue.

2. Chocolate Black Forest Smoothie

Ingredients:
1/2 heaping cup frozen dark sweet cherries
1/2 frozen banana, cut into chunks
1/2 cup chocolate soy or low-fat chocolate milk
2 tablespoons low-fat Greek yogurt
1 teaspoon honey
1/8 teaspoon almond extract

The bananas are a great workout snack, as they contain fiber, B vitamins and potassium, which are great for promoting sustained energy and muscle function. When you mix them with the milk and yogurt, you have a great combination of fiber and protein.

3. Kiwi and Kale Smoothie

1 1/2 cups skim milk
2 cups kale stems and leaves
1 frozen kiwi fruit, peeled
1 tablespoon smooth unsalted peanut butter
1 teaspoon agave nectar, honey or maple syrup

Kale is rich in magnesium and protein which help with energy production. It is also rich in nutrients such as vitamin A, C, K and calcium and iron. With a lot of antioxidants and fibre, you will feel full pre-workout as well as keeping your blood sugar stable.
