Superstar performances and huge crowds come together in Montreal for Osheaga 2012
Amazing. Crazy. Awesome. Those are just a few of the words that an Osheaga festival go-er might describe the fun-filled weekend in Montreal.
From August 3 to 5, Parc Jean-Drapeau was packed with enthusiastic music lovers and anxious fans who were ready to have a good time. And with five stages throughout the park, plus tons of activities and freebies, they definitely weren’t disappointed.
One of the best parts of Osheaga is the wide variety of musicians: from electronic dance music to indie rock, there is something for everyone.
Even on day one, the festival was off to a great start. The sun was shining and the park was buzzing with excitement. Friday’s headliners included Fun., Florence + The Machine and Justice.
Saturday was even hotter, with even more amazing performances, featuring A$AP Rocky, Garbage and Feist. The highlight of Saturday though was the anticipation of seeing the newly reincarnated Snoop Lion. He brought his new reggae persona, but got the audience hyped up with classics.
For the third and final day of the festival, extreme weather brought out the umbrellas and ponchos on top of the sunglasses and sunscreen. Despite the sporadic thundershowers, fans danced in the rain and rocked out to their favourite artists, such as Passion Pit, Bloc Party and Metric.
The atmosphere of the park was something everyone should experience. Being surrounded by so many people made it difficult to move around at times, but it was all worth it. From the top-notch performances on stage to the energy throughout the audience, Osheaga was a festival to remember–and we’ve got the muddy shoes, wicked snapshots and tans to prove it.
